Course for Teachers
Right Use of Power in the Classroom – teaching with power and heart.
Explore the inner landscape of a teacher’s life
Explore the inner landscape of a teacher’s life
Course Description:
All good teachers are truly present in the classroom, deeply engaged with their students and their
topic and continue to reflect upon the teacher who is teaching. We have chosen to be teachers for
reasons of the heart. We love to teach and we love to learn. Best teachers teach from the heart,
not simply from the book. As educators we have chosen a vocation that requires constant
renewal of mind, body, heart and soul if we want to avoid burnout, take joy in our work and
grow in service to our students and our profession.
Our capacity to be good teachers springs from our recognition of who we are. Perhaps the
worthiest skill of a teacher is the ability to offer our students our best self. As teachers, we must
continue to explore the following questions; who is the teacher behind the teaching, what and
who do I want my students to see, and how can we serve our students with wise and skillful use
of power. Teaching then becomes a journey of growth and transformation!
This course begins by exploring the multiple dynamics of the power differential and the
influence teachers hold. Participants will be invited to explore their personal relationship with
power and how this relationship expresses itself in their role as a teacher. Each participant will
increase skills in establishing and maintaining clear boundaries in the classroom by identifying
the principles which provide a quality learning environment to include accountability
agreements, dual role relationships, and the art of being prepared.
Kathy gently invites each learner into a place of inward reflection. Kathy brings heart and
passion into the teaching environment.
The Invitation:
If teaching is your vocational calling, please join us on this journey of uncharted territory which
offers a new perspective in teacher training and support. We know good players do not
necessarily make good coaches. It is also true to say; good practitioners do not necessarily make
good teachers. We must always remember; the influence of a teacher can never be erased. Let us
together preserve the heart of teaching.
This course if for all teachers, whether you teach for a massage School, offer Continuing

The demands of teaching are many and the student-teacher relationship is complex. Most of us
were never taught how to be teachers. Good teaching comes in myriad forms, but good teachers
share one trait; they are totally present in the classroom, deeply engaged with their students and
their subject. Teachers often choose to teach for reasons of the heart. We care deeply about our
students, the subject we teach and our profession as a whole. Exploring the inner work of
teaching helps us create communities of learning. Kathy invites you to join this community of
heart-centered learning and weave a web of connections for all teachers!
